______Educator_______________

"Mr. Clifton" to hundreds of young graduates, John's teaching has been a major activity over the last two decades. First employed as a Music Theory teacher, he went on to head the Music Department at Long Island's Cultural Arts Center, revamping the entire curriculum and adding over a dozen new courses during his tenure.

As a Computer teacher at  Columbia Prep, an independent school  in Manhattan, John was given the Trustees Award for Outstanding Contribution to the School in 1997.  He also taught Music Composition at that institution, introducing many students to an entire area of expression that would become a significant part of their lives.

A number of Clifton's music students went on to major conservatories, from the Juilliard School to the Manhattan School of Music to the Curtis Institute.  Some of his more serious computer students would enter Computer departments of universities such as Carnegie Mellon and Columbia.
